Industries / where the builds land
We know some industries better than others
To us, business model matters more than the industry. We’ve mentioned some industries we know well here, but what really matters is the underlying business ‘type’. Is your revenue recurring or one-off, or a mix of both? What drives new revenue, price, volume, new products? Are you cost drivers fixed or variable? Do you hold stock? Our core four builds are the same everywhere. What differs with industry/sector is which commercial question is worth answering first. If we don’t know an industry inside out before speaking to you, we’ll make calls to our wide networks to ensure we are up to speed. These are the industries where we arrive already knowing what usually breaks
Tell us about your sectorManufacturing
Knowing what a unit actually costs to make, before the month closes
Production, quality and finance reconciled against one another, so cost per unit is a number you can act on rather than an allocation you argue about.
↗Logistics and freight
Margin at the level of the lane, not the level of the P&L
Every movement costed properly, so you can see which lanes, customers and contracts are carrying the network and which are being carried.
↗Distribution and wholesale
Cost to serve, at the level of the customer and the SKU
Stock, service and margin in one picture, so the discussion about range and terms is settled with evidence rather than seniority.
↗Private capital
Portfolio reporting that holds up in front of an investment committee
Consistent operating and financial data across portfolio companies, collected once, so the pack answers questions rather than raising them.

The sector matters less than the mess
Most of what we fix is common to any business running on more systems than it has people to reconcile them. If your industry is not here, the question is whether we can be useful in week one, and we will tell you straight.
